28. Abu-Mayleh, Y. An Introduction to Water Problem in the Gaza Strip. Islamic University, Gaza, 1990: 20 pp.

The author notes that the Gaza Strip faces a serious problem of drinking water availability if current pumping rates continue or increase with the growth of population and economy. Reductions in stored water, together with low water quality due to diminishing groundwater water levels, continuous seepage of waste water and heavy use of fertilizers, are having disastrous effects on the environment.

Part one of the paper deals with groundwater and agriculture and part two with the chemical quality of groundwater. Recommendations are made for the improving water quality in the area.
